ALCGPSC 061/26 2025 ELITE MALE AND FEMALE ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

The Coast Guard Elite Female Athlete of the Year is LTJG
Jaquelynn Sheedy, Sector Detroit. LTJG Sheedy distinguished herself
in the sport of running. She placed ninth among women in the 8K at
the U.S. Armed Forces Cross Country Championship, contributing to a
first-place finish for the All-Navy team. At the U.S. Armed Forces
Marathon Championship, she placed 16th among 12,326 women and 303rd
overall in a field of more than 30,000 runners, earning sixth in the
Armed Forces category while helping secure another first-place team
finish for All-Navy. LTJG Sheedy placed ninth at the Bayshore Half
Marathon and won the Zaman Hope for Humanity 5K, se􀆫ng a course
record.

The Coast Guard Elite Male Athlete of the Year is LT Joshua
Romano, Base Boston. LT Romano distinguished himself in the sport
of powerlifting. He placed second at the USA Powerlifting Rhode
Island State Championships with a 1,455-pound total and a 9-for-9
performance. At the USA Powerlifting Military, Police, and
Firefighters National Championships, he again went 9-for-9, earning
third place nationally in the 181-pound weight class with a
1,466-pound total. At a Revolution Powerlifting Syndicate (RPS)
meet, he placed first overall, se􀆫ng three RPS world records and
four regional records in the drug-tested military category.

Demonstrating exceptional professionalism in both their primary
du􀆟es and their commitment to community service, LTJG Sheedy and
LT Romano exemplify the highest standards of Coast Guard excellence,
serving as outstanding role models both in uniform and in
competition.
