Coast Guard members and their families can access the newly expanded and online Department of Defense’s (DOD) Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Library. It has been integrated to include resources for all services and is accessible to those within the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).

The library, which is available 24-hours-a-day and seven-days-a-week, has the same digital databases that users have grown accustomed to, in addition to new collections of e-books, audio books, movies, academic support resources, as well as, professional development and varied learning resources for all ages and interests.

The benefits to the DOD MWR Library is that it’s a one stop shop for all service members and MWR patrons explained Brandy Stevens, the Navy General Library Program manager and the lead for the updated site. “It combines all of our resources into one central place for [members] to [use]. It also has a backend that allows us to control who is accessing it; in previous programs it was based on an honor system.”

Specifically, the website has a better user-friendly interface and it brings all of the services websites together under one login. In addition, the access points for the military patrons have been simplified and are easier for navigation.

Access information about the DOD MWR Library, as well as, visit the library system itself. Also, there is a “How do I…?” section at the top of the site that explains how to sign-in.
