MWR Information
Welcome to the fleet, and congratulations on graduating recruit training! You’re officially part of the Coast Guard team, and we’re excited to support you as you begin this next chapter.
Here you’ll find information about Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs designed to enhance your quality of life, build resilience, and keep you connected—both on and off duty.
The Single Coastie Program (SCP), a quality-of-life initiative aimed at enhancing the lives of single Coast Guard men and women. The program fosters personal growth, community involvement, and recreational activities, while addressing the unique challenges and concerns of single members. SCP provides a platform for Coasties to have a voice in shaping events, participate in outdoor adventures, engage in community service, and build camaraderie and support across the service. Whether you’re new to a duty station, looking to meet peers with similar interests, or want to get more involved in Coast Guard life outside of work, this resource provides details on how to participate.
American Forces Travel, the official Department of Defense travel program that helps service members access discounted lodging, recreation, and travel opportunities. Whether you’re looking for on-base or off-base hotels, leisure activities, or vacation planning resources, American Forces Travel makes it easier to explore and enjoy well-deserved time off. This resource provides information on available locations, booking procedures, eligibility, and tips to maximize savings and recreation opportunities while serving.
Learn how Coast Guard members can participate in the Coast Guard Sports Program and compete at the national and international level. The Coast Guard actively participates in the Armed Forces Sports Program as members of All-Navy teams, competing against the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force—except for CG Rugby and CG Golf, which have Coast Guard–only teams. Armed Forces Sports provides active-duty members the chance to represent the Coast Guard in both team and individual sports. This resource includes information on what sports are offered, competition timelines, eligibility, and how to apply—whether you’re an elite, collegiate, or highly competitive athlete.
Coast Guard Sports Grant Program, which supports the health, fitness, and readiness of our workforce by providing financial assistance to active-duty athletes. The program helps offset the cost of participating in individual sporting events authorized under the MWR Sports Participation Grant program. While grants are limited to individual competition entry fees, they do not cover team fees, memberships, league dues, licenses, training programs, or equipment. This resource explains eligibility requirements, how to apply, and how Coast Guard athletes can take advantage of this opportunity to support their competitive pursuits.
Explore the Coast Guard Morale, Well-Being, and Recreation (MWR) programs. This page provides an overview of the many offerings available to Coast Guard members and their families, including lodging options like cottages, RV parks, campgrounds, and guesthouses; youth centers and activities for children; and resources such as the CGX Scholarship Program, internships, MWR awards, and community support initiatives. You’ll also find links to each program’s details and guidance on how to access services that enhance community life, recreation, and quality of life across the service.
Learn how Coast Guard members can compete at the national and international level through the Armed Forces Sports Program. You’ll find information on what sports are offered, when competitions take place, and how to apply to represent the Coast Guard—either on All-Navy teams or on Coast Guard–only teams for rugby and golf. If you’re an elite, collegiate, or Division I–level athlete (or know someone who is), this article shows you how to get involved and take the next step.
